Microscope Web Cam
A microscope with a web cam attached using the web cam eyepice modification.
With this setup you get a digital image of the centre of the image you would normally see through the eye-piece. The size of the area will vary depending on how far from the objective the sensor is and the actual size of the sensor area. With my setup the image covers roughly 1/50th of the area that I could see through a x7 eye-piece.
For interst, the third of the above images is of the previous crystal but using the original incandescent bulb and the IR filter from a greyscale Quickcam. It lacks a lot of blue and is quite dark; my guess is that near-IR filters from black and white cameras are not uniform across the spectrum, i.e. block a lot of blue.
